Abstract

Conflict is beneficial. Modern managers believe that conflict can be used for the benefit of their organizations. This paper discusses how managers can beneficially manage conflict; explores the background of conflict management; and probes existing theories of conflict management. The work of earlier management scientists is researched and synthesized to develop practical suggestions on conflict-handling orientations. The impact of management approaches on business and national institutions are examined. Favorable conflict-resolution strategies are presented and a final emphasis is placed on the integrator style of conflict management for effective conflict resolution.
