Abstract

In the last decade chaotic encryption schemes were developed only for private symmetric key encryption schemes. We propose the first method which based on chaotic dynamics for realizing asymmetric “public key” encryption. A high dimensional dissipative chaotic dynamical system is distributed between transmitter and receiver. The transmitter dynamics is public, and the receiver dynamics is hidden. A message is encoded by modulation of parameters of the transmitter and this results in a shift of the overall system attractor. An authorized receiver has full knowledge of the dynamics and therefore knows the state space locations of the attractors corresponding to the different values of the modulation parameters. Unauthorized recipients only know the transmitter part of the full dynamics, and the protocol of communication is chosen in such a way that the attractor can not be reconstructed based on the transmitted signals alone. We present an example using a coupled map lattice. Security can be maintained by c...
