Abstract

This classroom demonstration uses a readily available videotape clip of a robbery to introduce the topic of eyewitness testimony. Students view the videotape clip and, after a delay, complete a multiple-choice memory test for the witnessed event. Students generally perform more poorly than they expect on the test, which leads to a discussion of the fallibility of memory for witnessed events.
