Abstract

This study investigates how Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State, Nigeria's library users feel about its services. For academic institutions, the library acts as a key nexus for resources, promoting learning, research, and the sharing of knowledge. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well the library's services meet the requirements and standards of its users, who are mostly students and faculty. A self-structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The Taro Yamane formula for determining sample size was applied to arrive at 230 respondents. A total of 230 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and a total of 212(92%) were returned properly completed and usable. The study found that the majority of the respondents are daily visitors to the library, an indication of a heavy use of the library; while electronic library services was rated poor; and the majority of respondents are mostly satisfied with the circulation, reference, serials and reprography services which is rendered by the library but some areas of services like library orientation programme and e-library services were unsatisfactory to them. The study recommended among others that since users’ perception of most of the traditional library services are good, the others like electronic library, services which was rated poor, should be actively attended to, especially to keep up with best practices.
