Abstract

Over the last decade there has been an increased emphasis on the involvement and participation of patients, including children and young people, in the decision-making process about healthcare issues affecting them. This has resulted in a plethora of user consultations, audits and research projects. Involving children and young people in decisions about service provision is something we wholeheartedly support. However, we feel a cautionary note needs sounding and that several issues need consideration.
