Abstract

Do-it-yourself artificial pancreas system (DIY APS) uses tailor-made open-source software technology and algorithms to achieve automated insulin delivery (AID) systems which are not commercialised or regulated1 . There is currently no guidance in the United Kingdom (UK) National Health Service (NHS) on the use of DIY APS in children and young people, nor are there any guidelines given by the UK General Medical Council or Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health to assist healthcare professionals looking after children's diabetes.
