Abstract

Introduction Ultrasound is a primary test that can be performed in patients with right upper abdominal pain. Ultrasound can distinguish between primary and secondary GB disease. In addition, the treatment policy can be determined by distinguishing primary GB disease as inflammatory and tumorous condition. In this paper, we describe US finding of various primary GB disease and investigate differential points among diseases. Results Acute cholecystitis, chronic cholecystitis, acalculous cholecystitis, and xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis are some of the inflammatory gallbladder diseases. Adenoma, GB cancer, metastatic carcinoma, lymphoma, and neuroendocrine tumor are the usual neoplastic disease. TAUS is especially helpful in differentiating between benign and malignant polypoid lesions and has the advantage of T-staging of early GB cancer as compared with CT or MRI. Conclusion Ultrasound is a modality that can be used primarily in patients complaining abdominal pain, which may be helpful in distinguishing gallbladder disease.
