Abstract

Routine examinations for the diagnosis of posterior circulation stroke include clinical assessment using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and brain imaging, generally, non-contrast brain CT; both of them proved to be unreliable on detection of infratentorial strokes. We tested the validity and the prognostic value of posterior circulation Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (pc-ASPECTS) in patients with posterior circulation stroke calculated on noncontrat CT (NCCT), CT-angiography source images (CTA) and CT-perfusion (CTP) images.
