Abstract
It is clear that World Mental Health Day has yet to distinguish itself as a front runner among the myriad of 'awareness raising days' in the health, social care disability fields. To what extent should we as mental health professionals be concerned about this? After all, most mental health professionals are labouring under growing heavy caseloads or rocketing bed occupancy rates and therefore have to prioritise their work very carefully. Is it vital that they should invest in World Mental Health Day or is it a discretionary decision?
