Abstract
The examination was directed on the Diyala River Basin, situated inside the territory of Diyala in focal Iraq between longitudes 44º20′ 10.19 ‘-45º 23′ 32.46″ and two latitudes 34º 7′ 56.26″ - 33º 23′ 2.82″ and an area of 5279 km2, the satellite imagery of Landsat 8 OLI_TIRS And derived them spectral indices, using the supervised classification method for the study area and comparing it with the maps prepared from the spectral indices, the study found that the MNDWI guide is the best for monitoring and monitoring the flooding of Diyala River. The statistical values of Kappa showed a good classification for the study area, it ranged between 86-88%.
