Abstract

Use of a custom tray with elastomeric impression material or a stock tray with a putty-wash method is recommended for making an impression of dental implants.1,2 For impressions of the transfer impression assembly, including the impression coping and positioning cylinder, a stock tray with putty impression material must be used to register an unmodified solid abutment.3 When abutments are prepared to provide adequate space for the restoration, relief of the putty impression material must be accomplished to provide sufficient space for the wash material.
