Abstract

Uncertainty analysis was used in a propeller open water test to reduce levels of experimental uncertainty. Sources of error which had the most influence on the total uncertainty in the measurements were identified. The overall level of uncertainty in the measurements during these tests was assessed. These results were used to reduce uncertainty levels in a repeat test. The analysis for both tests is presented. The aim was to use the results to reduce future uncertainty levels in doing this type of test.
