Abstract
1. The main virtue of the multipurpose optimization method is the possibility of complete realization of the systems approach to justification of variants of development of systems. 2. The existing possibilities of a more thorough consideration of the output characteristics of systems by the method of minimum adjusted expenditures do not lessen the significance of the multipurpose optimization method. 3. Theoretical investigations conducted at Leningrad Polytechnic Institute showed that multipurpose optimization method makes it possible to show the advantages of hydropower installations more completely.
