USE OF THE INTERNET AS A MEANS OF TEACHING ENGLISH

Abstract

The use of modern information sources is the basic precondition for the formation of the professional competence of the teacher; therefore, the purpose of our work is to outline the peculiarities of the practical use of Internet in the process of studying the English language in order to stimulate interest in further self-development, self-improvement and independent study of the language.At the initial stage, the use of English-language song content is useful in learning English. It is possible to use also modern animation works; they will help to enrich the socio-cultural component of students and can be an effective means of intellectual, artistic, and moral education.The use of the Internet in the course of the classroom activities allows the audience to be involved in the selection of materials for processing. Documentary films can also be used while working with an older audience.Non-gaming filming is rapidly becoming topical today due to a low budget and qualitative development and technology availability.An effective means of language learning is the Internet network in the process of advanced vocational education since it allows the use of special dictionaries and textbooks that reflect professionally oriented vocabulary. Listening to professionally-oriented podcasts is also a quick and accessible way of improving listening skills. They can cover a variety of topics and offer exercises, a collection of a current lexical material, transcripts of video and audio files, related articles and materials. Podcasts are popular and new ones appear every day.The system of control over the results of independent study may include consideration of questions at classes, writing abstracts, including the content of self-processed material in the list of questions to the score.Thus, the Internet can be an effective means of teaching English, whose popularity and accessibility will only grow in the future. That is why the question of practical aspects and technologies of its application in the educational process leaves a certain space for further scientific research.
