Use of the IEC 61850 series of standards to create PCS HPP in Russia background and application opportunities

Abstract

The article describes approaches to the problem of establishment of the integrated automated process control system (PCS) for hydroelectric power plants (HPP) using methods and technologies of the IEC 61850 standard series. It reflects integration of the local control systems (LCS) and other local automation systems based on international standard IEC 61850, as well as possible solution of the problem of transmission of consolidated data based on the status of main equipment and automation in manufacturing execution system (MES) of top-level group on the basis of standards IEC 61970/61968. We present a general perspective scheme of the control of DCS HPP based on standards IEC 61850 and IEC 61970/61968 and define the basic function of software and hardware complex of integration and process control modeling (SMPC-System Modeling Process Control) built on this basis.
