Abstract

The critical micelle concentration of surfactants differs depending on the nature of the contacting oil phase in a two-phase system. This has formed the basis of a chemical method for determining the purity of gasoline and diesel oil. The method can be used both in the laboratory and for spot tests to check for adulteration.
