Abstract

AbstractThe relative magnitude of the lanthanide induced shift (LIS) by Eu(fod)3 for the 19F NMR spectra of the CF3 group of diastereomeric (R)‐(+)‐α‐methoxy‐α‐trifluoro methylphenylacetate esters [(R)‐(+)‐MTPA esters] of stereomeric 2‐ and 3‐ substituted cyclohexanols have been measured. The [R,R] diastereomeric esters are responsible for the largest downfield LIS value in the presence of Eu(fod)3. With a well defined Eu (fod)3/ester molar ratio, the opitcal purity can also be determined.
