Abstract
This article has the objective of exploratory, to present a study showing that Rapid Prototyping (PR) has become an important tool in Product Development (PDP), allowing the use of prototypes in many phases of the development process. Prototyping aids the product development process, since it enables the simulation of the product in real scale, allowing the identification of design errors. This research analyzes the relationship between the benefits of PR and PDP using the methodology of case study in an airline company. The study was conducted based on a review of the existing literature and a case of manufacturing a prototype part. With this, we intend to evaluate the influence of rapid prototyping on the issue of manufacturing time and lower development cost.
