Abstract

Abstract The 300 MHZ proton NMR chemical shifts of the mixed complex (salicylaldehyde)(acetyl-acetone)ethylenediimino nickel(II) and the two corresponding non-mixed complexes were studied. The differences in chemical shifts were very small, ∼ 0.05 ppm, but by looking at both the mixed and non-mixed species in the same solution relative values could be determined. The differences in chemical shifts were attributed to both a geometry effect and a basicity effect.
