Abstract

Currently, the energy generation industry transition to a new technological platform is underway, the platform being based on the smart grids concept. This concept's prospective lines of development can be implemented based on the power router application in the power supply systems. The routers are designed with high-frequency solid state transformers. The article deals with the issue of the smart grids construction possibility based on controlled power routers. The article presents the results of non-railway consumers power supply systems operation modeling where the system is connected via the power router and consists of distributed generation plants operating based on the renewable energy resources. The research was carried out with the application of simulation modeling packages Simulink and SimPowerSystems of the MATLAB system. The research results allowed shaping of the following conclusions: the power router enables a successful riddance of power quality problems while ensuring a reliable integration of distributed generation plants into the power supply system inclusive of the implemented plants based on renewable energy resources; when connecting distributed generation plants to the power router, one has to consider a visible increase in the short circuit currents in case of grids 0.4 kV damaging; the application of the power router allows limiting short circuit currents compared to a traditional transformer, and decreasing in the voltage dip value in case of a remote short circuit.
