Abstract

In 1961 and 1962 the Office of the Director of Titles of the Province of Ontario, in collaboration with Hunting Survey Corporation Limited, carried out a legal retracement survey by a combination of photogrammetry and ground survey methods as an experiment in the use of photogrammetry in legal surveying, the Director of Titles conducting the ground survey and Hunting doing the photography and photogrammetry. This paper describes the ground surveys and the comparisons of results, and concludes that a retracement survey covering a larger area than the one used in the test and being otherwise similar could utilize photogrammetry to considerable advantage.
