Abstract

Quartzite powder compositions for molding the crucibles of induction furnaces can be likened to the three-component borosilicate system AI2Os--B=Os--Si02. There is a rough diagram of the phase relationship in this system according to Gillies and Foster given in [i, p. 137]. The triangle in this particular phase diagram (Fig. i) can be divided into three elementary triangles*: S--A2B--A3S~ (the point GI being invariant)$ A3S2--A--A2B (G2, invariant point); and S--A2B--B (invariant point not established, i.e., diagram not fully studied).
