Abstract

Four patients, aged 12 to 17 years, received cadaver kidneys from children aged 2 to 5 years. Three of the four recipients are surviving seven to nine months posttransplantation. Adequate renal function was attained in three of four recipients, with creatinine clearance >100 ml/ min/1.73 sq m. Anatomic hypertrophy of the transplanted kidney was shown roentgenographically in three or four recipients. The results of the present study warrant the use of pediatric cadaver kidneys from donors aged 2 to 5 years for transplantation into adolescent recipients.
