Use of Patient Pagers in a Diagnostic Breast Clinic: An Example of Service Improvement and Patient-Centred Care

Abstract

'One-stop' diagnostic breast clinics allow timely triple assessment but can be time consuming and anxiety provoking for patients. The process of clinical assessment, mammography, ultrasonography, biopsy and delivering results is lengthy, particularly if many patients seen in that clinic require ultrasonographyguided biopsy or cytology results. This is, of course, not predictable.
