Abstract

In 2003, it was reported that IVF protocols comprised of pre-treatment cycle suppression with oral contraceptives (OCP) followed by the use of GnRH antagonists (Antag) and recombinant gonadotropins (rFSH) result in high spontaneous abortion rates felt to be secondary to complete suppression of endogenous luteinizing hormone. Our study examines whether rFSH in combination with OCP and Antag results in a higher miscarriage rate in comparison to OCP with Antag and human menopausal gonadotropins (hMG) ± rFSH as well as OCP with down-regulated leuprolide (DL) cycles.
