Abstract

The use of nuclear emulsions as an analyser of proton polarization at an energy of 150 MeV has been studied experimentally by two different methods of scanning. An analyzing power of +0.47±0.08 was obtained for scattering angles of 5°÷20°. As an application of the emulsion method, we measured the excitation function of the reaction γ+d→n+p from 150 to 300 MeV, and the polarization of protons produced by photons ofE γ=(250±40) MeV. The most likely value of the polarization was determined to be +0.27 −0.18 +0.16 at 45° c.m. angle.
