Abstract

Two dielectric mixture equations were used in order to obtain estimates of theoretical permittivities from measurements on porous or powder ceramic specimens. Complex permittivities of alumina ( Al2O3) and zirconia ( ZrO2) were measured using a coaxial probe technique over the temperature and frequency ranges of 25-1200° C and 0.2-4.0 GHz, respectively. It appears that the equations are applicable to porous specimens but not always applicable to powder specimens without knowledge of density change and effect of porosity on permittivity change.
