Abstract

The possibilities of using magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) systems on hypersonic aircraft are discussed. The distinctive features of using MHD systems in the flow path of ramjet engines are examined. A quasi-one-dimensional mathematical model for the engine is presented which includes the MHD interaction with the flow. It is shown that the specific impulse of an engine system can be raised by using MHD systems.
