Abstract

Although it remains controversial, medical marijuana, made from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa, is currently used worldwide for the treatment of many conditions. These include nausea and vomiting, muscle spasms (especially those involved with multiple sclerosis), diminished appetite (seen commonly in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome patients), increased intraocular pressure in glaucoma, migraines, and many pain syndromes [1,2].
