Abstract

The production of maize callus lines and their use for assessing chilling injury are described. The substantial influence of physiological factors (type of explant, age of plant and culture) on the stress resistance of cells is shown. It is concluded that maize callus cultures can be used as a model object when studying stress resistance at the cellular level.
