Abstract

Four active carbons were prepared by carbonization of polyfurfuryl alcohol. From these, other four samples were prepared by impregnation with KI (1%). All these samples were characterized by adsorption of nitrogen and carbon dioxide at 77 K and 298 K, He density and mercury porosimetry. Gas-solid chromatography was used to study the adsorption of methyl iodide at zero surface coverge (Henry's law region). The thermodynamic functions of adsorption of methyl iodide at zero surface coverge ( ΔH A 0, ΔG A 0 and ΔS A 0) were obtained.
