Abstract

A diffuser with high transmission and a photographic plate are illuminated by a parallel beam of monochromatic light. By introducing plane parallel glass plates between the diffuser and the photographic plate, it is possible to obtain elliptic or hyperbolic fringes. Without the glass plates one obtains circular fringes. These far field fringes can be observed in scatter-light interferometers using holography. These are different from the classical far field fringes.
