Abstract

The use of fire in agriculture is an ancient practice that is still used in modern times to prepare the land, but this technique can lead to environmental problems, generating various impacts on the environment, including the loss of biodiversity. Several reasons lead to environmental degradation, among the main ones are logging, fires and farming activities, where years ago fires were predominantly carried out at the beginning of the dry season and were replaced by fires at the end of the dry season, causing fires of great extent and intensity, causing greater plant mortality and consequences for the supply of water sources. Despite the dangers of using fire in agriculture, fire management and the use of these areas is restricted by Brazilian legislation, so it continues to be practiced by many producers in Brazil, which instigates the study of the practice and its implications for society.
