Abstract
(Int J Obstet Anesth. 2016;27:75–80) Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) performed during pregnancy is known to increase the risk of fetal mortality by up to 20%. This can be minimized to some extent by the use of fetal-maternal Doppler ultrasound as a surrogate for monitoring maternal oxygen transport and uterine blood flow. This current case report describes the care of a woman who underwent CPB during pregnancy in which intermittent Doppler ultrasound was used to monitor uteroplacental blood flow.
