Abstract
The effect of negative corona discharge on the magnetic properties and main technological parameters of 〈1 1 1〉 and 〈2 1 0〉 Bi-containing magnetic garnet films has been studied. Corona discharge treatment causes an enormous growth of the coercive force in the films. The mechanism of this effect has been discussed. A device has been developed for thermomagnetic information recording that uses the corona electret state in Bi-containing magnetic garnet films.
