Abstract

1. The intensities of the Cu 5105, 5782, 5700 A lines, which form a widely spaced multiplet, satisfy the sum rule with an account of thev4 correction; their ratios are 14∶4.72∶1. 2. When the Cu lines are used to evaluate plasma temperature, the possible distortion of the 5105 A intensity because of reabsorption and superposition of the rotational line of the Swan band must be taken into account. The intensity distortion of this line can be evaluated from the intensity ratios of the 5105 and 5782 A lines. If this ratio is 3, Agv5105 should be equal to 14, as follows from the sum rule. With I5105 /I5782 ∼ 2, it is more proper to use Huldt's Agv5105 value to evaluate the temperature. When there is a strong C2 spectrum it is better to use Van Lingen's Agv5105 value, which takes into account the superposition.
