Abstract

AbstractCurrently, coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world and one of the most important commercial products. However, the industrial processing of this crop generates enormous amounts of waste that are disposed of in the environment, generating a severe pollution problem. This situation raises the need to look for alternatives to use these wastes to reduce their negative impact on the environment. The use of coffee waste to generate biofuels stands out as a viable alternative to mitigate the adverse effects produced by its deposition. This work compiles information on the types of coffee processing, production, and alternatives for the use of waste generated during its processing, highlighting its exploitation in the generation of biofuels.
