Abstract

In the modern times, cell phones are used by the greatest majority of people across the world. The cell phones are indeed, universally accessible and widely used means of all time and all round communication in the present times. They enable the users to enjoy the benefit of connectivity in this age of network development. The cell phones are used to make and receive the telephone calls over a radio link while moving around a wide geographic area. The modern mobile phones are known for multi-faceted services such as text messaging, MMS, email,Internet access, short-range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business applications, gaming, and photography. The mobile phones that offer these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smart phones which have affected the people both positively and negatively according to the empirical evidence. The United Nations reported that mobile phones have spread faster than any other technology and can improve the livelihood of the poorest people in developing countries by providing access to information in places where landlines or the internet are not available especially in the less developed countries. The disadvantages practically outweigh the disadvantages. The world health organization, national governments and progressive organizations have given a serious thought to the safety measures to protect the interest of mankind since mobile has emerged over the years as a serious menace rather than means of connectivity for the progress of people. Hence, debates, discussions and scientific investigations concerning the use patterns of cell phones, impact of cell phones on the health and progress of people and adoption of safety measures assume great social significance.
