Abstract

In this study experimental work carried out to study the bending behavior of steel I beam externally attached with polymer sheets reinforced with Glass fiber, Basalt fiber, and Carbon fiber. Simulation software, Ansys is used to analyses the experimental results. Artificial neural network (ANN) is trained by using experimental data. ANN architecture having multilayer, back propagation and feed forward algorithm was used. The outcomes of this exercise shows that artificial neural network can be succefully used to predict the bending behavior of steel I beam externally attached with FRP sheets with reasonable accuracy in order to reduce the experimental work.
