Abstract
Introduction: The re-tear rate following rotator cuff repair is reported to be 11–94%. Slings are typically used to immobilize the shoulder following surgery however the benefits of using of an abduction pillow are unclear, with evidence for and against the use of the abduction pillow. The aim of this study was to determine if the use of an abduction pillow for six weeks following rotator cuff repair affected re-tear rate of rotator cuff repair at six months.
