Geometrical calculations and experimental measurements on Cu and Cu-30wt%Zn have demonstrated an inherent flaw in using conventional Knoop hardness values. Future studies could provide more meaningful microhardness-based information if the additional effort is made to use two-diagonal Knoop indentation measurement techniques.
