Abstract
Family planning guidelines recommend that providers assess pregnancy status for women seeking contraceptive services. Urine pregnancy tests are readily available in most US settings. However, cost, time and lower accuracy with early pregnancy may be barriers to their use. We examined the performance of a pregnancy checklist based on World Health Organization-recommended criteria that providers may use to be reasonably sure a woman is not pregnant versus a urine pregnancy test in a sample of US teens.
