Abstract

A description is given of a CO2 laser detector of petroleum oil pollution at sea. The results of field tests are reported. It is demonstrated that it should be possible to construct a lidar unit with a scanning beam for detection of oil pollution. Lasers of other types can also be used for this purpose.
