Abstract
The paper presents a more technical and a less strategic view. It will discuss the issue of usage statistics in general and the project COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resource) and the SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative) initiative in particular. The first part will give a background on the usage statistics and why COUNTER was initiated. In the second part, the analysis will focus on the technology behind SUSHI.
