Abstract

Objective To study the usability of signage way-finding system in Public Service Center and explore the setting principles of signage way-finding system in large public space. Methods (1) Field survey: Check the items according to the general of “signage way-finding system for public information-setting principles and requirements”; (2) questionnaire survey: 150 questionnaires were issued to investigate users’ way-finding experience and suggestions; (3) field experiment: 15 subjects conducted the field addressing experiment and recorded the distance, time and deficiencies. Results (1) The internal and external signage way-finding system of the Public Service Center does not meet the standards; (2) the user’s evaluation of the signage way-finding system is medium, with low scores in terms of completeness, identifiability, continuity and legibility; (3) in the experiment, time and distance far exceed the standard value. Conclusion (1) The usability of signage way-finding system in Public Service Center is low; (2) deficiencies can be solved from completeness, identifiability, continuity; (3) based on the study, summarize the setting principles of signage way-finding system in large public space in eight dimensions.
