Abstract

Usability testing is an invaluable tool for evaluating the effectiveness and ease of use of Web sites. This article reviews major usability principles and explores the application of formal usability testing to an existing site Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir. The research seeks to measure usability of the site to identify the major strengths and weaknesses of the site. The study is based on the users’ feedback and data is collected from 237 respondents through a questionnaire. It is designed on five quality components for website designing given by Neilson Jakob (2012). It includes Learnability, Efficiency, Memorability, Errors and Satisfaction. The questions under each factor were framed and five-point Likert scale is used. Website usability, design and performance metrics, including download delay, navigability, interactivity, and responsiveness were accessed.
