Abstract

This paper aims to grasp the role of CIOs for the super ageing society in Japan based on the surveys on ICT applications for Elderly people, which the Institute of e-Government of Waseda University conducted in 2010--2011. The paper reviews the damage of 3.11 in Japan. Next is an analysis of the results of questionnaires to find the best ICT solutions for elderly people in order to reduce the damage of disasters. Finally, these were evaluated against the availability of special infrastructure, devices interfaces, and services and applications for elderly people in Japan. The paper concludes with an outline of proposed measures for promotion of ICT applications and the role of CIO based on the innovation for the ageing society.
