Abstract

Online learning is mandatory to be conducted at all educational levels to minimize the spread of COVID-19. To support the online learning activities, many online platforms are being used, one of them is Google Classroom that was suggested by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. However, the sudden changes from offline to online learning made students, especially elementary school students, have difficulties in using the platform. The aim of this study was to evaluate the suitability of Google Classroom for elementary school students. The think-aloud method and system usability scale (SUS) were used for the evaluation. Two groups of elementary school and college students were recruited in this study. The results showed that Google Classroom's SUS score was only 63.32, which is below average. Whereas, the SUS score in college students was 76.56. These findings indicate that Google Classroom is suitable for college students, but not for elementary school students.
