Abstract

To ensure that a mobile application is usable to a particular extent, a real-time water quality monitoring system should be carefully designed, especially as end users are a diverse group of people with varying requirements and demands. The main objective of this research was to investigate how participants, the fisher-folks respond to a mobile water quality monitoring app in terms of its effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction, which together represent its usability. The results were obtained by performing usability evaluation through the use of a modified Goal Question Metric (GQM) model, including field testing and questionnaires. The evaluation findings show that the Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring app achieves a high level of success in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, and that users are satisfied with it. However, there were a few concerns that needed to be addressed.
