Abstract

The mission of Microsoft's usability group is defined as working with writers (and designers and developers) to help produce intuitive easy-to-learn and easy-to-use products. It is emphasized that the usability process, particularly the problem definition process, can be an audience analysis tool for writers. During problem definition, writers can remember the general audience information they need to set reasonable usability test goals. This emphasizes the fact that a productive interaction between the writer and the usability specialist is crucial to the success of a usability test. >
